Anita Kaplan will teach a class titled "Color, Value & the Triangle." In this class you will create at least one stunning small quilt top using only the simple shape of the triangle. We will play with color, value and design to experiment with many inviting possibilities. We will learn short cuts for cutting that will make your work quicker and more efficient. You will marvel at how easy it is to choose fabrics that result in great-looking quilts. This is a No Sewing Machine Required class. Anita will bring a sample quilt to the June Guild meeting. Sign up by calling Gualala Arts 884-1138. Fee $20.

Supplies List

Do not bring a sewing machine

Do bring the following:

Rotary mat, cutter and small rotary ruler

2-3 magazines with nice pictures

Flannel to stick triangles to on foam core (provided)

Paper & pencil to take notes

Lunch

Three sets of 4 fabrics each.

Two sets should have a dark, medium and two light values that look good together. The light value needs to be light only in relationship to the medium and dark. It does not mean you must use pastels.

One set should have a dark, two mediums and one light.

Each set of 4 fabrics should be different from the other set, i.e. the sets do not need to look good together. Each will be used as a separate quilt top. If you are not sure of your value/color contrast bring an extra fabric or two. Try and choose at least one combo that is outside your comfort zone in either color or pattern. Bring colors that you like and can work with even if it is a stretch. Any cotton fabric will do, small/medium, quiet or noisy, prints, hand dyed, stripes, plaids or solids if you must.

Quarter yards are okay, half yards are better. Bring things from your stash.
