NOVEMBER

Skills & More

Mini-Workshops & Skill-Demos

November 19th

12:00—4:00pm

November’s mini-workshops and demonstrations will once again enable you to learn something new to enhance your quilting skills.  After the early social time (12:00 noon) and 12:30pm video on Ruth McDowell, the business meeting will be at 1:00pm, followed by several demonstrations by PPQG members.

Some of the skills featured will be:  Marilyn Limbaugh’s very cool “stack ‘n whack” method, Barbara Dunsmoor’s “easy curves and circles too” with Don Quinn’s (that quilting guy on TV) special cutting tool, and Bonnie Toy and Gail Sims’ special tips from Velda Newman’s September workshop.

If you have closeted a skill or technique you’re finally ready to share with others, please call Barbara Dunsmoor (785-2877) or Marilyn Limbaugh  (785-3814).  You may be just what they’re looking for.

A Special Video will be shown at 12:30pm on Ruth McDowell, our April speaker/teacher, as broadcast on TV’s “Simply Quilts” program. Her subject is “Designing from Nature” for her lecture and workshop here April 11-14.

A Special Note

from our President

My special thanks to all the wonderful members who brought delicious dishes of easy-to-heat-and-eat meals while I was recovering from my hip surgery. I so appreciated the many phone calls and get well cards, and most of all, the gifts of a personal visit.

In this month of Thanksgiving, I am truly grateful and thankful for the wonderful, supportive friends that make up our guild. I look forward to seeing all of you at our November meeting.

A New Source

Sue Lease wants to share a new source, recommended by SR Jim, for Singer Featherweight Parts. She was supplied fast and reasonably with a Free Motion Foot and new belt, among other things. He advertises hard to find vintage sewing machine parts, too.

Time for a Change

The quilts hanging in the Elaine Jacob Resource Center are getting homesick and would like to be home in time for Thanksgiving.  But before they can leave, they need replacements.  Do you have a quilt that is bored lying in a drawer or on a closet shelf and would like to have a chance to show off to an appreciative audience over the winter?

Your generosity in loaning your quilts for hanging at the Resource Center is much appreciated.  They truly do brighten up a rather sterile meeting room, turning it into a pleasant place for groups like the Bereavement Support Group to meet.  If you have a quilt you would be willing to loan Janet Sears for hanging in the Resource Center for the next few months, please let her know.  She would like to hang the new quilts sometime before the middle of November.  Call Janet at 785-3523 or email her at jansears@mcn.org so she can arrange to pick your quilts up from you. Many thanks as the holiday season approaches.
