For students who are comfortable using the darning foot to do free-motion quilting. This class reviews all the basic elements to successful machine quilting-decorative threads, rayons, metallics; tension, basting, battings, bindings, etc. Students will play with a large variety of designs that do not have to be marked, including flowers, leaves, vines, feathers, children's, holidays and border designs. Examples of her work can be seen in Diana McClun and Laura Nownes’ book "Quilts, Quilts and More Quilts, pgs. 12, 55,79 and 83, and on her web site at www.machinequiltlady.com

Please be aware that a machine that is “well tuned” and freshly serviced and one that you are familiar with is the one that will successful in class.  No featherweights, please.  I would encourage you to develop a library of designs on muslin and practice new and free-form stitching.  Also practice some unmarked designs.  Students are encouraged to bring a top or two to discuss quilting designs.  These will not be to work on.  There will be no stippling in this class.  Remember that the learning process is much more important in this class than production.
